Health & Wellbeing
For over six years, our health programming has focused on women and non-binary individuals, centering equity and intersectionality. As we continue to scale our impact, we remain committed to improving mental and emotional well-being for even more women across diverse communities.
We are dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of refugee, asylum-seeking, and BIPOC immigrant women by focusing on approaches that prioritize what fosters well-being, rather than what causes illness. This empowering model strengthens resilience, helping individuals thrive even in adversity.
Our health programming is tailored to the unique needs of the diverse communities we serve, with a strong focus on incorporating their input and leadership throughout program design, implementation, and execution. We engage through a variety of activities, including Women Circles, Community Lunches, Mental Health and Wellness Peer Mentoring, Exercise for Wellbeing, and Healing through Arts and Craft Sessions. Additionally, we provide opportunities for professional development, self-leadership workshops, and months-long employment mentorship programs.
Targeted Health Interventions
Our Circles are supportive, non-judgmental spaces where women connect, share, and heal together. Designed to foster genuine connections and emotional well-being, these Circles invite women to voice their truths, witness each other’s stories, and co-create a sanctuary for mutual healing and growth. Sister Circles specifically center the experiences of Black, Brown, and Women of Colour.
Recognizing the profound connection between professional growth, mental well-being, and women’s ability to thrive, this series equips participants with tools to enhance employability, lead authentically, start or grow businesses, and create meaningful change. Designed for women, by women, it offers a supportive space to share experiences, learn from others’ journeys, develop essential skills, and navigate challenges with confidence, fostering resilience, purpose, and empowerment.
Our advocacy work centers critical and often overlooked conversations around women’s health and the intersections of race, gender, age, culture, class, sexuality, and ability. By addressing topics such as menopause, racism in healthcare, and systemic inequities, we aim to challenge biases and drive meaningful change. We create safer, open spaces to tackle stigma, share lived experiences, and advocate for equitable healthcare solutions. These discussions are a call to action, empowering individuals to push for systemic reform and prioritize inclusive, patient-centered care that recognizes and respects diverse lived experiences.
These sessions offer a creative space for emotional expression, connection, and personal growth. Participants engage in hands-on, therapeutic activities such as painting, pottery, embroidery, macramé, journaling, and jewelry-making. These workshops are designed to nurture mental well-being by fostering relaxation, self-reflection, and a sense of accomplishment. This initiative harnesses the transformative power of creativity to build resilience, promote healing, and strengthen community bonds.
Our Community Lunches bring people together to share meals, stories, and experiences. Prepared by community volunteers who share dishes from their cultures, these gatherings offer a unique opportunity to build relationships, combat loneliness, and strengthen the social bonds that help individuals and communities flourish. More than just a meal, it’s a shared experience that nurtures both body and soul, fostering connection and unity through the rich diversity of food and culture.
From 2020 – 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we partnered with the Norwegian government, local municipalities, and community organizations to connect with immigrant and BIPOC communities. Together, we co-created safety and social-distancing resources in 29 languages and used digital tools to foster connections, alleviating isolation and uncertainty caused by the pandemic and job loss.
