SUMMARY:Inclusive by Design: Bridging the gap between theory and practice
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, many organizations have introduced mandatory Diversity\, Equity\, Inclusion and Belonging trainings and various internal and external initiatives to address the identified challenges. But the potential of driving true inclusion and belonging goes far beyond that. \nWhen we create or amend a service\, product\, digital tool\, or anything else – it can be inclusive by design. It is possible to start creating in a way that ensures inclusion and accessibility for ALL people. \nBut what does that mean in reality? \nJoin Diversify and Designit to learn about inclusive design and how to translate your theoretical understanding of DEIB principles into practical action\, which can drive meaningful change and foster a sense of belonging for all individuals. We will share our thoughts and tangible examples of how to bridge the gap between theory and practice. \nJoin us for this breakfast seminar on June 23 at 8.30 am at Akersbakken 12. This session is free to attend. It is a hybrid event.\nBreakfast included. The agenda for the morning and speakers will be announced soon! \n\nThis event is FREE to attend.  Please register HERE.

SUMMARY:Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace: Creating a Human-centric Hybrid Work Environment
DESCRIPTION:Diversity and inclusion in the workplace is imperative for a sustainable\, competitive and innovative company and society at large. Diversity also goes beyond the outward perception of a company – it includes how the internal structures work and signal the value systems of an organization’s management or leadership team. \nThis series is designed by Diversify to centre Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace. We look forward to seeing you! \n\nDiversity and Inclusion in the Workplace: Creating a Human-centric Hybrid Work Environment\nTechnology has been a saviour during the last two years\, allowing us to continue to work\, learn and stay connected. \nHowever\, the online platforms\, like zoom and teams\, were not designed to replicate the working environment in every regard. They lack a space for casual human interactions\, kitchen talk and the opportunity to feel the energy in the room. Subtle body language is also often lost\, impacting how we receive and interpret information. \nFurthermore\, like humans\, these platforms were not prepared for our sudden and oftentimes complete transition to remote working in early 2020. With the instant increase in use\, has there been the opportunity to humanize the way in which these systems operate? And have we made a conscious effort to change the way we use and communicate to one another on these platforms? \nIn many cases\, hybrid working is here to stay\, and there are many benefits. Accessibility\, efficiency\, and increased opportunities to collaborate across geographic distances\, to name a few. So how can we centre people in hybrid working environments to ensure that diversity and inclusion continue to be upheld and developed? \nDuring this edition of Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace we will look at the experiences of those coming from across organisational structures and varying stages of business development. We will discuss strategies to ingrain best practices for the future of hybrid work to ensure to incorporate Diversity\, Equity\, Inclusion and Belonging values. Join us!  \n\nSumeet Singh Patpatia (he/him)\n\n\n\nSumeet Singh Patpatia is Schibsted´s first Global Head of Diversity\, Inclusion & Belonging. He has a Master of Science in Business and a Major in Economics from the Norwegian School of Business (BI) and broad experience from multinational companies\, working with innovation and transformation. In addition\, he has a long experience building diversity in society. He has established and led the organization Young Sikhs and the annual event “The Norwegian Turban Day”. SUMMARY:Creative Fridays: Handmade Cloth Napkins with Warmfolk
DESCRIPTION:Cloth table napkins add a special touch to mealtimes and is a great alternative to disposable serviettes for every meal. Back in the day\, Norwegian families gave personalized napkin rings to each family member. Dinner napkins could be reused rather than washed immediately after each meal. Your handmade dinner napkins can add to the ritual of mealtime and bring back this time honoured practice. There’s just something novel to using cloth napkins for everyday occasions and not limiting its use to fancy functions. \nDaisy will guide us through the easy process of making a set of four double-sided napkins. Bring fabric with your favorite pattern or upcycle something special like a well used table cloth that holds meaning to you. A set of four table napkins uses 2 pieces of fabric measuring 2 meters. If bringing your own fabric\, make sure both pieces of your woven (not knit) fabrics. If you don’t want to bring your own materials\, fabric will be available at the event for NOK200 for 2m of material. \nWe will have sewing stations ready and looking forward to creating with you. \nCost: NOK200\nMax Participants: 8 \nAbout WarmFolk & Daisy \n \n\nWarmFolk quilts and patterns reflect a love of traditional craft and a celebration of modern aesthetics. Daisy Aschehoug created WarmFolk as a way to move her teaching and quilt design forward in the quilting industry\, while also pursuing various art quilt endeavors. \nDaisy Aschehoug currently lives in Nesodden\, Norway. She grew up among sewing machines and fabric\, but it wasn’t till her thirties that she finally asked her mother to teach me to sew. Quilting offered an opportunity to combine her new love for sewing with all of the art classes that she’d taken throughout my life. She realized a passion for selecting fabrics to incorporate into traditional and modern quilt patterns. \nDaisy has been making quilts since 2010 and designing quilts for magazines since 2016. She is most passionate about the art of modern traditionalism and incorporating curved piecing into utility quilts. She is a member of the Modern Quilt Guild and the Studio Art Quilt Associates. \nShe has a masters in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana\, and spent several years in the United States helping federal and state governments work with communities to develop best practices for managing natural resources. Now that she is fully immersed in designing\, making\, and teaching the art of quilting\, she is excited to explore how the resources she uses in her craft can reflect socially and environmentally sustainable practices.

SUMMARY:Doing the Work: Hvit er også en hudfarge
DESCRIPTION:In the last few months we have been hosting Thursday conversations to navigate how we can better show up and act for racial justice. We’ve had some powerful exchanges of experiences and ideas. Regardless of the language\, the message is the same. It is time to engage with our Norwegian community on the topic of race. \nJoin us på norsk this Tuesday\, 29th of September\, to open up the conversation on racism\, for the locals.
